Robert Baldwin is a Chartered Account and Financial Planner with the Lonsdale Financial Group. He specializes in Estate Planning and recently completed the estate planning elective subject at the University of Technology Sydney Law Degree. Robert is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, one of only 500 in Australia.
Perfectly positioned as the lead adviser of his clients and a valuable resource to his professional referrers who have a lead adviser relationship with their clients, Robert Baldwin has an accounting background and is a reputed financial planner. He is a specialist estate practitioner who has completed the 6 day UTS Estate Planning course (which is also the knowledge component of the FPA’s Accredited Estate Planning Strategist program).
Robert has adopted an unusual stance. Not only is he committed to providing exceptional service to his clients, he has also decided to emphasise his estate planning offer as a unique feature of his firm. His company Estate Inheritance Strategies is an inspiration to all aspiring estate practitioners. His positioning places him firmly as the estates practice leader for sole practitioners in his local area (the Hunter Valley in NSW). Robert puts his people and change management skills to good use. He is very unassuming. His aim is to gather like-minded professionals together to provide a very personal service to clients. He has formed an alliance with David Rogers, a Lonsdale adviser who has also completed the 6 day program to spread the message about estate planning in the area.
Robert Baldwin is not a lawyer but works collaboratively with experienced lawyers who focus on trusts and estate practice. He is a Chartered Accountant who specialises in estate planning and administration. He is also a licensed financial planner with Lonsdale Financial Group Ltd.
Robert says “I became interested in estate planning because of the complexity of personal/business issues of clients. I wanted to do more than produce an historical set of financial statements for clients them tell them how much tax to pay. (Not a very satisfying way to earn a living and not one appreciated by the client.)
The UTS course gave me the knowledge of the legal framework of estate planning which enables me to more effectively provide strategies for clients.
It also gives the lawyers a bit of a shake up when they find out I know as much as they do, thanks to the UTS course and my accounting/tax background.”
As such he is perfectly positioned to liaise with all of the client advisers required in an estate planning engagement because not only does he has a deep relationship and good understanding of his clients and their family, he is also able to communicate with and understand adviser perspectives. More importantly, Robert enjoys what he does and is committed to his approach.
Robert uses the following process to offer clients Estate Planning, Estate Management, Estate Tax Planning and Complex Estate Planning services.

Robert has embraced the collaborative nature of estate planning engagements and has a team of solicitors and other estate professionals with whom he works. He is also working with other advisers to spread the message about estate as a growth area of professional practice in the private wealth management field.
Estplan Principal and UTS Lecturer, Michael Perkins says – “It is heartening to see that Robert is applying the knowledge that he has learned and implementing it so successfully within his practice. I believe that positioning himself so clearly distinguishes his relational professional practice approach and provides the basis for his competitive advantage in the long term”.
